ADJUSTABLE LAMP STAND 18th CENTURY

We have been collecting and selling early lighting for over 20 years and we have never seen anything like this. It is similar to the Candle Stand 1740-1760 that I have in the EARLY LIGHTING category but has no socket for candle or peg lamp. The two arms adjust vertically and rotate 360 degrees. The ends of the arms (hands) are cupped to grip the long hooks  of Betty Lamps, grease lamps or a lamp that could be hooked onto  the cup. The lamps could also hang over the arms. Just a great and unusual piece.
See EARLY LIGHTING published by THE RUSHLIGHT CLUB page 122 for a similar example. In great condition and 39" high. (DRETE)
List Price: $1400 (LAMP STAND)
The painted BETTY LAMP hanging from the arm is available for $395 and the WHALE OIL LAMP is available for $550. Both are on the website under EARLY LIGHTING.4

BOW-BACKED WINDSOR CHAIR 1765-1780

We found this beautiful bow-back Windsor in Connecticut a few years ago and it has been in our home for the past few years. It came from a curator (speciality in chairs)  and collector. The design with the bold turned legs is characteristic of Rhode Island craftsmanship.
Note the serpentine arms which are mortised through the incised bow and terminate in scroll shaped handholds. The chair has seven spindles (desirable),  vase and ring arm supports, four vase and ring turned legs reinforced by H-pattern turned stretchers. The seat is shield shape, concave,  peaking in front and extremely comfortable (saddle seat). A wonderful chair in outstanding condition. A similar chair can be found in ANTIQUE COUNTRY FURNITURE by George C. Neumann p.115.(AOKT)
Dimensions: Seat Height 18 3/4", Overall Height 38"
List Price: $900
