FIRE SCREEN/ HEARTH TRIVET 18th CENTURY

A greatlooking brass and iron trivet with wooden handle. This trivet may be hung on the fire screen (fender) or sit on the hearth. Note the outstanding design of the brass surface, the nicely turned wooden handle as well as the form and design of the back leg. Exceptional condition.

18th C. FIRE SCREEN,FIRE BAR, TRIVET

THIS KIND OF TRIVET WAS DESIGNED WAS  HUNG ON THE FIRE SCREEN, FIRE BAR ETC. THEY WERE UTILIZED TO HEAT THE TEAPOT AND MUFFINS. THE HOLDER IS ADJUSTABLE TO FIT DIFFERENT THICKNESSES. BIRD BROILER/TRIVET 1780-1810

This formal English design features a wooden handle, penny feet, an interesting adjustable three prong fork, an intricate brass top and front hooks for attaching to a low fender or other frame. The overall condition is excellent. (BLTK)

PAINTED FIRKIN 1760-1860

AT FIRST IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A NEW FIRKIN WITH RECENT PAINT. HOWEVER, IF YOU LOOK AT THE BOTTOM, THE NAILS,  AND CONSTRUCTION, ESTABLISH THAT IT IS PERIOD. A NICE PERIOD REPAINTED FIRKIN THAT IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND WAS USED CAREFULLY. (BSTR)

SKEWER HOLDER WITH SKEWERS 1750-1800

SKEWERS WERE RODS OR BLADES USED TO SECURE MEAT, VEGETABLES, ETC. FOR ROASTING. SKEWERS WERE USUALLY HUNG FROM A DOUBLE ARMED HOLDER AT THE FIRESIDE. THIS A PARTICULARLY NICE BECAUSE OF THE DIAMOND SHAPED SCREWER HOLDER AND THE RAT TAIL ON
THE ARMS WHICH IS SIMILAR TO THE RAT TAIL ON THE SCREWERS. (ALDK)

EARLY PAIR CAST IRON FEMALE FORM ANDIRONS

This is an interesting pair of cast iron female form andirons with a floral design on the body and a shawl or hooded cape over the head. Note the thickness of the fire dogs which hold the wood. All original and in excellent condition.

BLUE PAINTED MORTAR & PESTLE-18th CENTURY

A beautifully turned and well used mortar and pestle. Note the outstanding form,  the great blue paint with appropriate ware and the numerous rings of various sizes and shapes. These two pieces started together and have never been separated. Touch the two pieces and you can feel the smoothness from extensive use and observe the wonderful patina that comes from extensive use over a very long period of time. (KOTK)
