Kettle Tilter ca: 1700-1800

An ingenious device that held a teakettle over a fire. By tipping the extended arm the kettle was tipped and the water was poured. This remarkable wrought iron tool permits the tea kettle to be locked-in, has a nice turning on the handle and appropriate ware. It was found in the Rice estate in Waterford ME. The overall condition is excellent.

TALL BRASS and IRON TRIVET - 19th CENTURY

A well used tall trivet made of iron, brass and wood. Note the smoothness of the nicely turned wooden handle. Note also the penny feet, the simple design of the brass top and the rat tail front hooks used for attaching to a fender or other frame. While this trivet could be used in a parlor or bedchamber, it could also be used in the kitchen due to its size. (LTK)

ROTARY GRIDIRON 1740-1800

The rotating gridiron was used to lay meat or fish on for broiling, or to use as a trivet. The gridiron was also used for light cooking and warming. Note the shouldered handle here because the gridiron's low height. Also note, the heart finial with a hole for hanging. Excellent condition. (MBED)

EARLY HERB GRINDER ca:1800

This is an early and unique wooden herb grinder with great patina. The trough and base is one pieced of carved wood. It is 17" long, 2 3/4" wide and 2 3/4" high .Note the incised line on both sides and how nicely the base was carved. The roller with handles is approximately 11" long and the roller is 51/4" to  5 3/4" diameter and  1" thick. Outstanding condition with no age cracks.(ALK)

GOOSE NECK TEAKETTLE 19th CENTURY

An interesting cast iron goose neck teakettle with copper domed lid and a nicely formed brass handle. The spout is notched and has no seam.

EARLY FOUR COMPARTMENT HERB/SPICE BOX

This is a very early  four compartment herb/spice box with four sliding lids. What is so significant about this box is that the box is totally dug out by hand and the four lids were carved to enable them to slide into the cutout runners. The box was never painted and retains a dry finish. Excellent condition.  (LOTK)
