18th CENTURY SPOON RACK

This early spoon rack came from a collection in Texas. The owner did a significant amount of research on this piece and the wood tested American tulip and also determined that it was probably made in New Jersey. Note the remnants of reddish paint on the spoon rack, the mortised hanger through the spoon rack and the cut-out behind the spoon holders for possible use by other implements (knives etc.). Note also the early 19th century repairs. It should also be pointed out that the rack was never painted and it retains a great old surface. Unique piece in outstanding condition. (HOTE)
