LATE 18TH CENTURY DOUBLE CANDLE STAND WITH RETRACTABLE ARMS

This is one of the most unique double candle wrought iron floor lamps that we have seen. The lamp features spring tension on the shaft which permits  vertical adjustment. It also has two hinged arms which permit the rolled candle sockets to extend and rotate in a horizontal plane. Some other areas of details include the twist design towards the bottom of the center shaft.  An acorn like finial on the top of the piece, and triple ‘penny’ tabbed feet. From age there is some expected very minor pitting on the surface of the piece.  Also some minor  roughness on the undersides of the feet.  The lamp stands an impressive 45 1/2″ tall with a footing gait of 12 1/2”.  A splendid piece of period lighting from a New Hampshire estate that is certain to be the center piece of a lighting collection or as an accent to any period home.
