A beautiful German 19th century oval bentwood box with lapped sides laced together with thin strips of wood. This covered box has retained its original paint decoration, the top painted with a scene of a man and his dog, with German inscription in white painted around the edge, (purportedly translated “my dog, the trusted animal enjoys bringing back to me lost items”, the sides with polychrome flowers. While the box is in wonderful condition, there is some minor wear and loss on the box.
