Pierced Tinned Iron Lantern ca: 1780-1840

The punched holes in this type of lantern limited the light but shielded the candle from wind and drafts and was safer in a hay-strewn barn. The extent and fine quality of piercing with the elaborate designs make this example noteworthy. All original. Complete. Excellent condition.(ALKD)
