This is a rare and early wooden Barbers (Bleeders) pole. Note the traditional red and white stripes which dates back to the time when the barber was the local surgeon due to the fact that he had the sharp instruments. The red represents the blood and the white represents the bandages and the pole advertised that the proprietor was a barber and a surgeon! The sign can be hung on a wall using the wrought iron hand forged bracket. The paint is all original and maintains much of its original color. This unusual and rare barber’s pole is in excellent condition. (KETE)Dimensions: 40”L, 5 1/4”W (At widest point)
