SCOTTISH DOUBLE VALVE CRUSIE LAMP ca:1700-1820

This double valve crusie lamp is identified as Scottish by the "ram's horn" scrolls which decorate the back support of the uppermost valve. This crusie lamp is very early and was well used as you can tell from the construction and great ware. In his book Fire & Light, John Caspall provides a wonderful description of how double cruises were used and how to establish a better time frame when each crusie. was made. This crusie lamp is complete and the design of the hook and the "ram's horn" add to its desirability. (ALTA)
