The primary purpose of the teakettle was to boll water. This is a
nice early three -legged squat profile in cast iron that includes the typical notched spout. The teakettle has the elongated line or gate on the bottom. A similar ( if not exact) is pictured in ANTIQUE COUNTRY FURNISHINGS by George Neumann on page 174.
