TIDY TOP STAND ca:1830

Turned wood stands or small benches called tidies were used to raise Betty lamps , candle holders or any early lighting fixtures a useful height when burned at a table and at the same time protected the table from spilled fuel. This is a unique and wonderful example of an early tidy with tapered and beveled legs and very old screws ( hand made?).(LETE)
