A 1760-1790 rectangular wooden lantern design (the “bower”) having four glassed sides with one a mortised door attached with extenders that protrude through the roof and bottom. The corner posts are extended to form legs and top finials and are held in place with wooden pegs. The candle holder is well worn and attached with square nails. The glass is replaced. The lantern has a bail handle and a venting hole with an arched tin cover. Out standing condition, 12 1/2”H (top of arched cover), 5”square. (HETE)
