Description
A relatively rare candlestick with six rods topped by a pierced disc with a hook for carrying or hanging. The metal rods are attached to a turned and waisted wooden base. The birdcage is a safety feature which prevented the candle from toppling out of the holder and reduced the possibility of a fire. The candlestick is all original and in quite good condition for a piece that was used in the 18th and 19th century.
