Child’s Blanket Chest 19th Century-Provenance Rittenhouse Family- Philadelphia


Description

A wonderfully constructed child’s blanket chest with the original mustard paint. The chest features original pulls and hinges. The drawer is dovetailed and chamfered. The turned feet are extensions of the corners. The moulding on the three sides of the top is incised which enhances the the look of the chest. It is a Montgomery County Pa. chest which was presented to Dorinda E. Reiff when she was 10 years old. Dorinda Reiff was the daughter of Benjamin Reiff and Lydia Rittenhouse of “Rittenhouse Square” in Philadelphia. Note the writing on inside of the top in the photo.
