When one looks at this etched and inked (scrimshaw) ostrich egg you not only see an extensive amount of work but you also see a story. At the very top is a beautifully designed and etched vintage vector nautical compass. Just below the nautical compass is a banner with hearts and birds. Below the banner there are four etchings of woman looking forlorn and either writing a note or carrying a note. Note the victorian dress. At the base are the ships whales and men who perhaps are connected in some way to the women. This is all hand done and beautifully illustrated. As a note the egg itself is very strong and in great condition. The decorated egg comes with stand. Approximately 7″ high.(BLDETE)
