A very early 18th century slat-back armchair with four turned heavy posts. The two back posts end in nicely turned ball and vase finials and the two front posts are mortised into the extended curved arms with a vase and ring decoration.   As with most slat back chairs of this period the chair has double stretchers on three sides and a single stretcher in rear and the three heavy slats are arched on top and flat on bottom. The splint seat is old and in good condition. As expected of a chair of this age the chair has been stabilized using two inconspicuous rods.
