Description
A wrought iron 1740-1820 candlestick (sometimes referred to as a courting candle)with its original wooden base. This spiral-type holder employs a simple handle (or chair back hook) at the top and a lower knob that slides along the spiral opening to raise or lower the candle. While there are a couple of very old cracks in the base they do reflect age and use and basically add to the great patina. (BHKP)
