UNUSUAL “LIFT LIGHT” 19th CENTURY” LANTERN

Description

THIS IS THE MOST UNUSUAL LANTERN THAT WE HAVE EVER PURCHASED. WHILE I HAVE SEEN PHOTOS OF THESE LANTERNS, WE DON’T RECALL EVER SEEING ONE THAT WE COULD ACTUALLY TOUCH. THIS IS A WONDERFUL EARLY TO MID 19th CENTURY LANTERN WITH A GREAT ORIGINAL BROWN PAINTED SURFACE, WONDERFUL CONSTRUCTION AND FEATURING A LIFT LIGHT. THE LIFT LIGHT ARM IS CONNECTED TO THE CANDLE HOLDER THROUGH A HOLE IN THE TOP OF THE LANTERN. UPON LIFTING THE ARM, THE CANDLE HOLDER EMERGES THROUGH THE VENT AND MAY BE LITE, REMOVED OR REPLACED IF NECESSARY.THE LANTERN APPEARS TO BE ALL ORIGINAL INCLUDING GLASS, CANDLE CUP AND PEGGED TOP AND BOTTOM. CERTAINLY, A WONDERFUL ADDITION TO ANY EARLY COLLECTION. NOTED ON THE BOTTOMTHE LANTERN COMES WITH GREAT PROVENANCE FROM THE RIVEN OAK THELMA SCOTT COLLECTION.
