Description
A well made adjustable spiral candlestick with a large iron base and a nicely designed carrying handle from the mid 18th century. This candlestick was designed foe safety and function. Was used in the home as well as in the shop. The coil forms the stem of the candlestick which allows a cup (holds the candle) to be raised or lowered to adjust the burning candle. It is an intriguing fact that invariably this type of candlestick has a coat of black paint. Outstanding condition.(TBKE)
