Throughout our history, sieves have been used extensively to separate finer particles of dry mixtures (ashes, flour ,sand etc.)from coarser ones and draining liquids. This particular iron sieve (ca:1820) is so beautifully made. Note the design of the perforations in the bowl and then note the designs on the handle which ends the delicate finial 15”L, bowl 5 1/2” diameter (LKET/CLTK)
