Description
Early paper was made from linen which was more durable than today’s product. Most writing was done with ink and a quill pen. To help dry the ink, absorbent sand or dry pumice was sprinkled over it using the ink sander. The sander was filled with sand through the top holes. This particular sander with its mustard paint is typical of sanders used in the late 18th century and it is extremely well made and very attractive.
