SHEET IRON BETTY LAMP AND STAND -18th CENTURY

Description

While the Betty Lamp has been around since the 18th century, the combination of the Betty Lamp with a “tidy” or stand to fit the lamp is attributed to the Ipswich region in Massachusetts in the 19th century. While we have had a number of tin Ipswich lamps, this is our first one with a sheet iron stand. This Ipswich Lamp was probably designed for a shop or workplace due to the four holes in the base which could be used to attach the stand to a base which would reduce the possibility of it being knocked over and fire. (TKDEUE) 8” Height of Stand, 4 1/2” Diameter Base List Price:$785
