Description
A delicate 1765-1780 Pennsylvania Windsor sack-back armchair. The armchair has all the traditional features of a period Pennsylvania bowed back Windsor chair, such as splayed legs, flat shaped arms, bulbous stretchers (center stretcher with small rings), carved saddle seat and seven tapered spindles with a mid support. Note that the upper part of the spindle was carved a little more than the lower part to give a more delicate look with solid support and the carved legs and arm supports are particularly graceful.
